Choice of Funerals

Full Traditional Funeral Service John Edwards Funeral Directors can provide traditional burials and cremations. We can also cater for those who have specific requirements such as environmentally friendly burials (using biodegradable coffins) and green environment burials where the deceased is buried in a dedicated woodland area.

The "No Frills Funeral" -  Some people prefer a simple, basic funeral, dignified but low cost. John Edwards Funeral Directors apply the same professional expertise and care for the bereaved and meet all the requirements.

Pre-Paid Funerals "Golden Leaves" Many people choose to plan ahead for funeral arrangements. We provide a number of well respected nationally recognised funeral plans from Golden leaves Funeral Plans. Golden Leaves is a founder Member of the Funeral Planning Authority which ensures financial security.

The Funeral Director will take full responsibility for making all the necessary arrangements. Your Funeral Director will take detailed instructions from you concerning the services and facilities to be provided, and will then act accordingly including:

  • Arranging a date and time -  for the funeral according to your instructions.
  • Contacting the Church - cemetery or crematorium, and/or the person who will be conducting the service, to arrange a date and time that is convenient.
  • Transferring the deceased from the place of death - or from where the deceased may have been taken after death, to their premises.
  • Or: Provide practical assistance to allow the deceased to remain at home prior to the funeral should this be the request of the bereaved. Provide facilities for viewing of the deceased prior to the funeral, according to the requests of the bereaved.
  • Providing the necessary vehicles and staff - to conduct the funeral with dignity and professionalism, according to the instructions of the bereaved.
  • Arranging all necessary paperwork - to allow burial or cremation to take place. Place death notices in local or national newspapers.
  • Offering a range of coffins and caskets - to suit a range of budgets and differences in personal choice.
  • Arranging for catering - at a venue of your choice to follow the funeral.
  • Making arrangements for the subsequent disposal of cremated remains following a cremation -  Arrange for special musical requests such as a soloist piper or choir, at a funeral service.
  • Liaise with a printer - to provide Order of Service sheets at funeral services.
  • Use a variety of methods - to record the names of those attending the service to provide a list to the bereaved.
  • Ordering floral tributes on behalf of their clients or others - for the funeral. Accept and care for floral tributes delivered to their premises prior to the funeral.
  • Accept donations - in lieu of flowers on behalf of the deceased, providing the bereaved with a list of those who have donated.
  • Arrange for transfer of either the deceased or the cremated remains -  to another area, or overseas, for a subsequent funeral or disposal, according to the wishes of the bereaved.
